Astrology is a major detail in my overall style. One of the criteria’s for the most authentic self expression personally and in home decor, is knowing who you are. Knowing yourself and what you like and dislike is all apart of the process. Astrology helped me understand myself and other people too. All of the signs have natural indicators that run through their chart like a theme. As much as I love dissecting and analyzing a persons chart, it’s a deeply personal endeavor that one has to venture into on their own. We’re all different, our astrological charts too, and the one you should always focus on knowing the best, is your own.
As for me,
My big 3 makes up a lot of my inspiration when it comes to styling. I also use my boyfriends Leo placements to compliment my personal astrological decor choices and nod to our compatibility and romantic relationship and friendship. My sun and mercury signs are in cancer, my moon is in Taurus, and my rising is in Sagittarius. My mars and Venus are in Gemini so it’s always an honorable mention. These are the signs I like to focus on and are the limit of the scope of my astrological education and insight.
Every sign has stereotypes that are worth leaning into. They also have imagery associated that is an easy way to make your astrology interested and pride visible. Cancer (the crab) is a water sign known for being maternal, moody, welcoming, and enjoy things like the moon, the ocean, the homespace, and family. Taurus (the bull) is an earth sign that has characteristics of luxury, security, and relaxation and enjoys things like being out in nature, eating good food, music, and creating a warm and comfortable environment. Sagittarius (archer) is a fire sign that are known for being adventurers, hardworking, and enjoy things like travel, sports, freedom/independence and joy. Gemini (twin) is an air sign known for being chatty, outgoing, and inquisitive and enjoying things like intellectual conversation, humor, and engaging in various hobbies.
Taurus is the sign that has the most powerful influence on my home. My partners rising sign is Taurus and my moon too. The moon sign widely influences who a person is when they’re most comfortable and my home life is all about comfort. Having this sign in common has allowed for a very tranquil environment filled with lots of plants, a working kitchen, and lots of comfortable blankets and pillows for a cosy night in surrounded by yummy smelling candles and the most soothing lighting.
If you know me at all, or take a look through the shop, you see all of these things exemplified in physical form. Having insight to my big 3 and myself and what I like has made refining my style and self expression easier. It’s not always easy to break out of what everyone else is doing, wearing, and decorating like especially when we admire them, but home will never feel like home until you choose the things you like and you’ll never feel like you while trying to be everyone but.
So, find out your big 3, do some research and start by expanding on the parts of your signs that you already identify with and have some fun being more and more like yourself
