un.packing eclectic goods & oddities! vintage and secondhand resell items.
the beauty of becoming oneself is not exclusive to personhood, but to home decorating too. once shop owner and curator, Aijah Monet, stepped into her highest level of self expression, so did her desire to have her first home reflect the same burst of personality, fun, nostalgia, storytelling, warmth, and comfort. creating a color forward home was the first step to making the place feel like home and filling it with obscure, reminiscent, and unique decor was the next. in her search to furnish her home, Aijah sourced items high and low and collected enough pieces overtime, to not only fill her home, but also to contribute to the design process of others. her intuitive sense and natural style made shopping enjoyable, but her passion and connection to the retro design and mid century modern style conjured up her innate inquisitiveness. learning with the pieces refined her skills and knowledge base around what was worth buying, what felt good to own, and what inhibited both qualities. the rule of thumb here, is that there’s nothing on the site that Aijah wouldn’t display proudly in her own home. so, enjoy the pieces that Aijah loves, but cannot keep. that mean something to her, and hopefully something to you too. that excite her, remind her, and carry her home. beyond the thrifted resale pieces, Aijah has ventured into creating original artwork, paper-goods, and more! what you’re apart of, is a true reflection of her ever evolving artistic and entrepreneurial potential. welcome to the expansive world of Aijah Monet… un.packing eclectic goods & oddities.

Care suggestions and Broken and Lost Items
All items are final sale. Please keep in mind that vintage items are typically more sustainable and durable, but that doesn’t exclude them from being fragile.
All items are packaged for success and security in transit. Not everyone is as gentle with parcels as I would like, but please know your items are packaged and sent with care and hopes for a safe arrival. However,
Breaking stuff happens. Whether it’s broken on its way to you or after you’ve had it for a year, shit happens.
Anything damaged in shipping is still final sale, but contact me and I will provide a coupon for your next purchase. All sales are final.
Product descriptions will include care instructions if warranted. Chips are normal in ceramic pieces and will be mentioned in product descriptions.
Old books can have an oder, loose bindings, and sometimes crackling covers
Hand wash vintage glassware and delicacies to avoid aggressive ware, cracks, or temperature damage.
Spot clean blankets and rugs or wash on delicate and air dry
Overall, do your research on how to maintain and keep vintage goods. They can form require a little more attention to detail or none at all. The fun is in finding out.
Again, all sales are final. Lost and damaged goods stink, but due to the uniqueness of the items, there aren’t replacements. Reach out if you believe your item has been lost and you may be eligible for refund following a USPS investigation.

AIJAH
& one day she decided this is who she would be
Aijah Monet Downer is a 28-year-old woman from Connecticut. She loves her family, friends, and pets so very much. In addition to writing Aijah enjoys shopping, eating, traveling, laughing, taking photos on her instamax mini camera, and spending time having interesting conversations and bonding with those closest to her. From a young age, Aijah was a lover of words. Over time she connected the way words made her and others feel and the power of storytelling. Trying to understand the human experience and heal from the pain of life became her goal as she faced uncertainty in love and in herself. She compiled these poems to help to ensure that no one else “flew under the radar” and was never suspected of being in pain because they did not appear to be the type of person who could even hurt. She hopes that you too will begin to unpack. With time the load will get too heavy. So she asks, before then, take the time, you can un.pack too. To un.pack with Aijah and thousands of others, visit her on Instagram @un.packing.
un.packing is told from the perspective of a young woman that no one would expect to say or think the words they will read. A skill for articulation and emotional consciousness created a project that reveals what it’s like to fall in and out of love with others and oneself. The trivial moments in her young adult life became the forefront of an enchanting and vulnerable story of an unsuspected girl. In moments of panic and despair, the author would jot down her thoughts into her notes. After revisiting these pieces there was a poetic and reparative nature to the scribbles that inspired the composition of this poem book. Years of suffering in silence, birthed the most intricate and unique thoughts once stuck in the monotonous mind of Aijah Monet Downer.
People of any and all walks of life will be able to relate to the words in un.packing because of the universal truths it speaks of. All people are encouraged to enjoy the poems and know that they are included in each and every word typed, no matter how they identify. Ultimately, un.packing will appeal to an audience of young adults. un.packing deals with themes of heartbreak, faith, love, race, and mental health. Anyone in a healing process of any sort will be able to align with this book. The author explores topics of concern for many people but also provided a healthy approach to coping. “Maybe if I unpack all of this here, I’ll get better. Maybe then life will go on.” Processing painful experiences and memories is a major aspect of healing. un.packing offers an approach that most people try to avoid. It describes the raw and unfiltered experience of letting go of the toxicity and the ups and downs that follow in this process.
There aren’t a lot of places that feel like home. But there are a lot of people who can make everywhere feel like you belong. I hope un.packing does that for you. I hope that I can do that for you.
